Clients for segregated funds have the following profile
- Risk Averse
- minimum principal guarantees on death and maturity
- Below Maximum Age
- insurers have max issue age (e.g., 80)
- not available to a minor (can’t enter an enforceable contract)
- Financially Secure
- since maturity guarantees in 10+ years, not intended for emergency funds or short term investing
- Creditor Prone
- provides creditor protection that’s valuable for entrepreneurs, small business owners, sole proprietors, the self-employed, professionals
- Estate Preserver ages 55+
- beneficiary gets the guaranteed death benefit without the costs and delays of probate
- Poor Health
- the maturity and guarantees are available without evidence of good health
