Group AD&D
Group Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) is available as a standalone plan or an addon to group life or group health plan.
- low cost
- often add coverage for accidents while traveling for the employer
- benefit = group term life (usually)
- benefit = lump sum if life insured
- dies from an accident
- suffers qualifying multiple dismemberments
- partial benefit for partial dismemberments
- optional coverage available (employee-paid)
- evidence of insurability not required since benefits are payable only in the event of an accident
- exclusions:
- act of war
- suicide
- self-inflicted injury
- military service
- flying in a noncommercial aircraft
- committing a crime
- drunk driving
- drugs or intoxicants
- poisonous gas (even if accidental)
