Fraud

Here are several definitions of fraud:

  1. intentional perversion of the truth in order to mislead someone into parting with something of value
  2. intentional deception resulting in injury to another person
  3. any deception, lie, or dishonest statement make with the intent to cheat someone
  4. intentional material misrepresentation of a fact, with the goal that another party rely on it to their financial detriment

Forgery is similar.

Fraud is a criminal offense and grounds for terminating an insurance policy (no time limit).

Examples of Fraud

  • a smoker claiming to be a nonsmoker
