Delivery Receipt
An insurance policy goes on the effective date.
Before bringing the policy contract to you, your advisor will have checked for errors
- e.g., name, date of birth, gender, type of plan, amount of coverage
When you meet for delivery of the policy, your advisor will ensure that there are no material changes in
- the health of the life insured
- the financial circumstances of the applicant (you)
If there have been material changes, your advisor will inform the insurer of the changes and not deliver the policy. Otherwise, your advisor will do the following
- review all the features and provisions of the policy contract
- ensure that you understand the contract, which reduces the likelihood of you canceling the policy
If everything is okay, you sign a delivery receipt as proof that you have received the policy. Your advisor witnesses your signature. The receipt shows the policy number and date of delivery. Your policy is now in effect and the "free look" period now starts.
